Matthew Mullane

Journal of Aesthetics and Culture recently published my paper “The Aesthetic Ear: Sound Art, Jacques Rancière and the Politics of Listening.” It’s available on the journal’s website as a free PDF. The article looks closely at four active artists working with sound in ways that explode the confining definitions of “sound art,” engage the political and mirror Jacques Rancière’s concept of “critical art.”

I've added two new pages, a "Photos" page highlighting a small collection of photographs from past performances and a "Mixes" page in the "Music Downloads" section offering an ever-growing archive of mixes under my Linear A moniker. Mixes 001 and 002 are available now and shift from hyperkinetic dance music to droned improv and everywhere in between. I hope you enjoy.
